Learn to Row this February
PRC Masters invites you to participate in a uniquely tailored Learn to Row camp this February especially for current PRC Parents.
The camp introduces you to adult rowing on Lake Merced within the community, commitment, and culture of PRC. Over several weekend mornings this February, PRC coaching staff will provide appropriately paced rowing and fitness instruction, along with service experiences (helping with the Novice Regatta), culminating in a Championship of the Universe sprint race and potluck!
The camp prepares you to walk on to our Novice squad as part of regularly scheduled Masters programming. The fee for the camp is $195, and participants are limited to 30.
Our program outline is as follows:
February 1 and 2 (8:00a-10:30a both days): Introduction to Rowing/Hitting the Water:
Erg instruction and technique, warm-up routines, on-water rowing instruction and team building
Februany 8 (10:30a-1p) and 9 (8:00a-10:30a): On Water and Off Water:
Warm-up and team building, on-water rowing and video, discussion on collaboration and safety
February 15 Service: PRC Novice Regatta:
Support PRC Youth Novice Regatta; launch rides and safety, observe junior rowers and discuss rowing advantages for adults
February 22 (10:30a-1p) and 23 (8:00a-10:30a): Bring it Home; Novice Championship:
Final technique session and video, PRC Masters Novice Championship of the Universe, Potluck and celebration!
